weekends | On-call required Position overview The Cardiac Surgery
Technologist (CVOR) provides advanced scrub support for open-heart
and cardiovascular procedures in a high-acuity operating room
environment. This role is ideal for experienced surgical
technologists with strong sterile technique, cardiovascular surgery
experience, and the flexibility to take call and assist across
multiple OR service lines. Key responsibilities Scrub and assist
for cardiac open-heart and cardiovascular procedures, anticipating
surgeon needs and maintaining a sterile field. Prepare, organize,
and maintain sterile fields, instruments, equipment, and supplies
according to case type and surgeon preference cards. Assist
surgeons and circulating RNs intraoperatively, including instrument
passing, retraction, suctioning, and specimen handling. Provide
perioperative support to patients across all age groups,
contributing to safe positioning, prepping, and transfer as
directed. Float to and assist in other OR service lines (e.g.,
general, vascular, thoracic, ortho) based on daily schedule and
staffing. Follow infection control, safety, and surgical protocols,
including count procedures and handling of sterile solutions and
implants. Document procedures and support workflow within EPIC,
including case data and basic supply/implant usage per facility
processes. Required qualifications Current Oregon Surgical
Technologist certification (required). Minimum 1 year of
CVOR/open-heart scrubbing experience, or at least 2 years of acute
care OR scrubbing experience. Completion of an approved Surgical
Technology program or qualifying military/federal Surgical
Technology training, per facility options. Current BLS (Healthcare
Provider level) certification. Ability to take call, work rotating
weekends, and provide coverage on holidays as scheduled. Basic
computer skills and comfort working in an EMR-supported OR
environment (EPIC). Core competencies Cardiac surgical procedures
and sterile technique, including familiarity with CVOR instruments,
equipment, and workflow. High attention to detail and patient
safety, including precise counts and maintenance of aseptic
technique. Team collaboration in fast-paced, high-acuity OR
environments with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing staff. Strong
time management, adaptability, and ability to respond to changing
case priorities and add-on/emergent procedures. Professional
communication and adherence to surgical standards, protocols, and
regulatory requirements. Additional assignment details One CVOR
Surgical Technologist position available for this contract. Holiday
coverage required as part of the on-call and rotation schedule.
